With info now comming through about the launch of the PS3, some people may be tempted to change to a PS3 when it's released.

But, how many XBox 360 owners have no interest in the PS3 and intend to stick with the XBox 360? I know some people intend to have both aswell or is there anyone who will definately be selling their XBox 360 come Christmas so that they can get a PS3

Not sure I'd sell up the 360 to get a console that will probably have as bad a release lineup as the 360 had.

However, if the PS3, in 18 months, is as much ahead of the 360 as some people think it may be, I'd probably shelve the 360.

Not convinced that will happen, though. Devs will have had the 360 for 12 months longer by that time, and the quality of software comeing out for it should reflect the extra time and familiarity games developers have with the console.

surely this should be a poll.

i'll be buying a ps3 as well as long as the price is okay. the one i use most often will depend on the games. last generation that was xbox for me.

can't fault the 360 for £280 no matter what (and there will be a price drop in november) so i definitely won't sell up. i'll have had my money's worth out of it by november anyway so i'd keep it even for the odd game even if (and it is a big if) the ps3 has all the killer games.

It's not a mutually exclusive deal for me, I will keep my 360 and get a PS3 (although probably not at launch).

I agree...if the games are good then I will buy one..

I think the days of people only buying one console have gone...in real terms these machines have come down to a cheap enough price for most people to afford ( I remember when amigas cost over 500 quid and that was over 13 years ago!)

So does it look like november for HALO 3 now!!

Like many here I'll get both - no need for any form of loyalty to Microsoft or Sony. It's all about the games and both platforms will have exlcusives which will be worth having. The cost of games over the 5-year life of the platform will dwarf the actual hardware purchase anyway: 1 Xbox 360 = only 5 games.

I notice you've left the Nintendo Revolution off the list - I'm sure the abundance of quality games and the novelty controllers\remote\hat\badger combination will have me chucking my 360 in the skip! :D

I have no interest in the PS3 as a console, IF it has better games available then i will get one, but i won't get one just because it is supposed to be more powerful. The reason i got a xbxo after owning the ps2 was for the better games, not because it was more powerful blah blah blah

Its about the games people, not brand loyalty, power and other such rubbish

I have been thinking about this. Originally, i had no plans to get a PS3 but then again, if the price is good then i could consider one because i will be wanting a next gen DVD Player (HD-DVD or BlueRay) and if the blue-ray in the PS3 is quite good as apposed to previous dvd playback in consoles then i might consider it instead of a dedicated player

I have to say, as time goes on I'm more and more interested in what Nintendo will bring to the table.

There is a real need for some originality in this industry.

    Should be another option:

Unsure, may get one if it looks good, but will keep my 360 no matter what happens!

The only thing i don't see is why people are going to spend another £500 say on a PS3 which you might not play all the time as you would have a 360 aswell. It just seems alot of money for something that you might only want for the sake of a couple of games

i'm not sure that i'd pay £500 for it. £400 is probably my upper limit but i'd probably pay £300 or so for a standalone hd-dvd or blu ray player anyway and that's what i am basing it on.

I will get both, because the PS3 will have some good exclusive games on it, and i think it's a bit silly just to limit yourself to one console as you miss alot of good games. I dout i will get a PS3 at launch as i would think it will be more than £300 and that is my limit. That having been said that could all change for me if they announce a Final Fantasy VII Remake:D

Yeah I desperately want an HD/BR DVD player too - but if the DVD playback quality of the PS2 is anything to go by, the PS3 might not be too hot in that department. Still we can live in hope. :)

exactly how I feel, the 360 is fantastic its going no where. But if the PS3 is fantastic too then I could easily be tempted.

Although the choice is likely to be 10-15 more 360 games or a ps3 with 1 game. So it needs to do something special.

I'll be preordering on day 1 though. Then the choice is mine to make up to the day of release. If I decide not to keep it, it won't be difficult to find a friend who does.

    Shocking allegations :rotfl:

Seriously I think I'd feel too guilty doing that, but if they are going for silly enough money to mean I could basically get a console for free then I'd be tempted. I'd have to wrestle with my conscience and see who wins.

I'm not the most patient and strong willed guy though so even if I decided it probably isn't worth the money it would probably still end up permently under my TV when it turns up :D

As suggested, get one and ebay it. Then you can have 30-40 new games for the 360 :D.

That's not as easy as it sounds... I ordered 3 360's... but only managed to bag one. Did get 2 VGA cables though, one of which netted more than 400% profit on eBay... :smashin:

I'm going to wait until after launch for the PS3, especially if it is horrendously expensive. I had to sell a kidney to get the 360 and I believe that you cannot survive on no kidneys. :(

I probably won't get one at launch but as soon as a decent game comes out that i can't play on the 360 I'll get one.

Will almost definitely get a ps3 and keep my 360. I think it'll by very unlikely that it wont have many good games (mgs, gran turismo, final fantasy to name a few exclusives).
I probably wont get one on launch tho (waited a few months for my 360 too) as i have patience. Its good to see roughly half of us in the poll feel the same too. I'm sure when the revolution steps up it'll be on my desk too.

Yup definately will get a PS3. As much i'm loving my 360 i feel that there's certainly more than enough room under my LCD to accommodate another console ;) I'm just hoping it'll be brilliant (as i'm sure it will be) because competition is good. Another huge incentive, for me anyway, is the BluRay player. I'm sure it won't be as good as a stand alone player but it'll sure as hell will do for me to start with! :rotfl:

Nope not interested in PS3 when it comes out *NEXT YEAR*.

    Why ?

PS3 doesnt have a Media Centre Extender built in, no Digital TV etc etc...
