I’m just watching Millionaire: A Major Fraud and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire afterward if you have watched them what do you think.

Please Vote After Watching & Not Before:smashin:

I had to laugh :rotfl: in the first adverts they show a waiting room full of people in an avert for Benilyn.

based on the footage - guilty.

however the footage used is presented by Celador (reference to the other poll - donnie darko) so can it be unbiased.

but he did seem to do more about turns than Maggie Thatcher

I agree they only enhanced the ones that made the case against them

I think he is guilty but I think that Cellador played this for all they could get. The ratings for show were at rock bottom. People phoining in were way down. It is a format on the way out....The questions that need answered are these....

Why did Celador not just cancel cheque and wait for the Major to sue them for breach of contract to get money in civil courts (ie why did we, the tax payers have to pay for this ridiculous trial)?

Why did they beocme the first people in history to NOT get a jail sentence for a million pound fraud? (ie do you think that if the Judge thought it was serious he would have stick them away, do you think that having kids is good enough reason to NOT put someone in prison for million pound fraud.....)

I think he was guilty but I think Cellador are possibly guilty of wasting MY money for their own commercial gain.

I thought it was really funny, how on earth did they think they were going to get away with it

I think it was a police matter and they should have got jail time. However, he is a major and that probably went a long way from keeping him out of jail.

Celador are without doubt using the situation to their advantage, what else would you expect?

I didn't like the mrs reactions it seems obvious she wears the trousers

In my opinion he was certainly guilty. Just the way his answers changed all the time. They really made the most of it for the programme though

I want to know if the guy in the audience was the contestant, would he have won as he seemed to know all the answers.
I wonder if when his turn finally came he got the answers wrong on purpose.

well he asked the person next to him on two of the questions and on 2 questions he offered no help. On one the mrs stepped in, very amusing

I thought the funniest was his cough....nooo....cough

I knew the one he got wrong I had them last time I went to Greece

the whole episode reminded me of that bloke in the fast show who can not stop coughing

I wonder if they would have done anything if he had stopped at 250k or even 500k

:thumbsdow I thought it was a very embarrassing performance. He was going with thing he had heard of, then other times said he would go for it because he never heard of it. Very strange.

On the river Foyle on the previous night he said he could not connect it to any thing, but there is a political party called Fina Foyle.

Guilty - regardless of how it was played out afterwards, that had to be one of the worst bits of cheating I've ever seen - you could actually hear the guy say "No" in the middle of a cough - it was hilarius :D.

If I was on the jury though I wouldn't have convicted because he committed no crime in my mind - just tried his arm at exploiting a weakness. No payout - fine, but a court case - rediculous.

    Me too.

Hats off to the guy for having the balls to do it. Definately guilty though. :nono:

    Gordon.
Good questions indeed. I think the programme was well laid out to raise the question, were they guilty or not? and most people will be so preoccupied discussing this aspect, that all other questions and motives for airing the programme and the way Celador acted will be forgotten about.

I think they call it fraud.

What I want to know is did he not get the prison sentences suspended because he has children?
Also if he appeals can and it goes against him can they increase the sentence?

I wonder if he will now become a celebrity like someone else that was found guilty and is doing very nicely on TV.

Definitely guilty IMO. She was coughing 5 or 6 times per answer in some cases. Then suddenly stopped when he got it right, and carried on when the next question stumped him :)

The Craig David answer had me laughing to myself and the cough no cough was almost child-like.

    Blatant cheating IMO

    Fianna Fáil actually :smoke:

Guilty & remarkably stupid to boot IMO. Jees, a studio full of cameras & a guy who obviously didn't know his a^$€ from his elbow

Should have definitely got jail time.

Makes you wonder about standards in the Army nowadays. This guy had made Major, but as Chris Tarrant said, he really seemed quite dim.

Although the coughs were amplified during the
documentary, you could still here them on the
show which was on ITV2 after.
I know there was a lot of coughing going on in the audience
during filming, but the coughs that mattered were still audible.
    Blatent cheating IMO.
Did they do a search of Mr. Whittock after the show to see if
he was carrying a pager or something because he wasn't the brightest bulb in the fairground on his performance afterwards
    was he!

If honest Martin Bashir had anything to do with the programme then he's probably just been stitched up like a kipper.

I think they mentioned some one keep exiting the audience and started using his mobile phone. But I do not think they had fully cottoned on to every thing when the show finished.
Was this the reason he did not go to far with his questions as if he won big time they would have searched him? Or was did he come back on an other night?

Guilty as charged m'lud - how they thought they'd get away with it I'll never know.

However, remember doing a similar thing in an inter schools quiz once - my team worked out a series of little signals - didn't stand to win a million quid though!

(By the way, yes, we did win - a 'lovely' trophy and sod all else)

thank god he wasn't commanding any of our troops in the gulf-a very minor major and a greedy cheat to boot-part of his punishment should be that he has to remain with that haridan of a wife for the rest of his life, and pay all costs instead of us taxpayers, celador should contribute too.
