I ordered mine from www.computeruniverse.com (in Germany) yesterday and apparently it has shipped today.

I have done business with them before and they are excellent in all respects.

They said it was a 6ft screen 16:9, not sure if thats width or diag; will let you know when it arrives.

I'm after an electric one anyway so I might sell it on.

    All in, 1778 euro.

This includes Irish VAT at 21% and about 30 euros for UPS shipping.

That's very strange that they adjust the VAT to suit the destination country. I somehow doubt that they are giving this extra money they receive to the Irish government. You really shouldn't have to be paying Irish VAT rate since this is a German firm. You should only be paying the German 16%.

I don't know really. All I remember is when I had my own company, and bought stuff from abroad, there is a separate section on the VAT returns document that asks for VAT charged in or out of the country. If Germany is the same, then Computeruniverse will pay my VAT to the German taxman, and after that who knows what happens to it...

Ultimately though, the price was OK and I wanted to buy from them.

When buying from within the EEC (except for Cars) you pay the retail price icluding local taxes in (and to) the source country. No local (destination) taxes are payable on shipments within the EEC.

    Where to buy? Forum sponsors:

Next day delivery, good service. I think the screen is a 5ft one as I got the wife to mesure the box (5.6ft). How sad is that......
