    Hi guys,

Just about to order a HS50 and wondered if anyone had experience of dealing with the cheaper (more cost effective ?) dealers such as Gultronics, Unbeatable, DigitalDirect Uk (and others). Any dealings - good or bad.

I prefer to support the dealers who in turn support these forums but some of them are looking for over £1900 rather than £1500+. Don't mind paying a bit extra for good service but probaly not £300.

    Any thoughts ?

    Cheers

    Ray

Just discovered discounttv.co.uk who seem to be a forum sponsor and are doing the HS50 for £1599 inc delivery and pixel check . Will give them a call methinks :)

    Ray

Still looking for other feedback though

If you manage to get a Sony unit before 6 or 7 weeks, you'll be a lucky man.
Good luck ( you'll need it) and welcome to the ghost projector Club! :rotfl:

Yeah - I've been reading about the updates/firmware version. To be honest I've just started building my room and have no cables or DVD player yet so couldn't use it for a while so not too worried.

    Thanks for info though.

Glenn - good news about the finances - might sway me in their direction.

    Ray :)

How about writing into Blue Peter, perhaps they can mock one up with some Ready Brek boxes and stick back plastic until the real units arrive?
    :D
Sorry guys, I'm not taking the p1$s, but this is straying into the realms of farce... Sony should have got this unit right and released decent stocks. It's not fair to make you all scramble round and queue up like this. I'm sure your patience will be rewarded though!...PJ

got my hs50 from discounttv and have been very happy with the service.
I originaly bought a optima h57, but that had a projection fault
( which in a way was lucky because the little lady and i found that we both suffered from rainbows.)
So sent the unit back to frank at the store, and swaped the unit for a hs50. and some change.
got one with the original firmware, but not bothered as i use it with a dv79, so no 720p.

    Totally agree with that.

UrbanT is yours okay with 1:1 720 or do you need or have you had a firmware upgrade.

Mine is great, and does 1:1 @720 on VGA. No intention of having the upgrade done as it won't alter the way I use mine :)

Is this with HTPC ? Still wondering about what DVD player to go for and PC may be the route I take. Can you play DVDA and SACD via PC (wrong forum - I know!)

    Ray

Ta for the feedback on discounttv. Realised they are only just over the border from me (in Injun territory) so I'll put me clogs on and toddle over soon. :)

Have a look at my website, its all PC driven. You can certainly run DVDA from PC, not sure about SACD.
