Some folk claim anyone with a cable extruding machine makes the best cables as all cables are created equal and over engineered cables are not worth the fancy packaging they arrive in.

Others claim you need to Cryogenically pre temper your audio and video cables before they are deemed ready to transmit an electrical signal.

Some folk put their cables on ceramic spacers to keep them from 'sagging' - which introduces internal deflections within the cable!

Lots of options and opinions - if your intrigued the best option is to discuss your requirements with someone who can loan you various cables to test and appraise for your self.

    Best regards

    Joe

PS Have a look at the banner adds around this page - you'll see a fair few cable brands being supported by retailers who contribute to the AVForums.

Thanks for the imput guys, but i'm just starting out. I know it's probably not the best way to go, but i want to get a few good cables behind me and work my way up to really good cables.

Between these 3 cables which one would you choose:-
    Qed
    Profigold
    Ixos

If you have this thought that cables make a difference to sound or video then the best you can do is try some without reading any reviews or knowledge of what people consider *better* than Joe bloggs. Try to get a dealer to lend you some at various price points, DON'T ask the dealer the prices before you audition them. This should then provide an unbiased conclusion to each cable. Listen/watch each cable and decide for yourself if any cable is more capable than the other.

IT is really important that you do not have any knowledge of the cables in hand as the brain is a powerful tool and can make you believe that a more expensive one (or indeed a classy looking one) is better.
