Lots of sell-offs of series 1 KHT 2005s on the web and the high street, but who is selling the series 2 yet ?

I recently purchased my Eggs v.2 from Musical Images.

Still running them in, but will say the the sub is an improvement & the mid range on the Sats are so much better than v.1

Del, (sorry to hijack the thread) - I've got a new set of Mk II's (hooray!) from Creative Audio, Shrewsbury. Is there anything specific I should be doing to them to assist with the running in process? Also as per instruction I've turned the crossover on the sub to max, but what settings should the input level and phase be set to?

    Confused

Just play music through each speaker for at least 8 hours ( I find most speakers break in within that time) Could take upto 30 hours or more though. Use 5 channel music mode, and background volume (not too loud)

I've got some new Kef speakers and breaking them in at the mo.

Nathan_silly is right. It's an effective method.

In addition, I've have a burn-in cd disc from the "Sheffield Labs" that I use for a few hrs when changing cables, speakers etc.

Now you've got two dealers mentioned in this thread :)

Yup, constant play. I find speakers sound much better after roughly 8 hours, and after that the "sounding better" curve trails off, although still increases upto ~30 hours, and maybe ~60, depends on the speakers.

Leave a CD/CD shuffler on repeat. You could leave it whilst at work, but could be a fire risk - if the sub/amp is faulty and catches fire could be quite disastrous. I guess you could play music whilst you're in the other room.

From the pictures I've seen the new Kef sub looks extremely similar to my Celestion S10 sub that I got last week with my AVP305 package.

Knowing the relationship of these two companies are they the same? The S10's specs are:

    Amp power: 200w
    Freq resp: 25Hz - 130Hz (effective range is from 40Hz - 140Hz)

PSW2010 is new closed box design.
Celestion S10 is virtually the same as PSW2000 (mk1 eggs).

Err, can I jump in and highlight the question posed by villaceltic above?

What phase setting should be used on the Kef subs? (What is the 'phase' anyway?)

I've got my nice shiny Kef 3005 egg system all up and running but it needs tweaking (and running in).

The package comes with a whopping downward firing 10" 300W sub which certainly kicks the ass of the new colour-coded sub of the 2005.2 pack.

I've maxed out the crossover setting as recommended on the Kef site but exactly what should I be doing with the phase level? The instructions packaged with the sub are hazy in the extreme and nothing is mentioned on the Kef site.

    Cheers

    Big A

must agree that the supporting documentation is absolutely shocking! You wouldn't believe that Kef are a UK company producing this level of 'manual'. I can only assume it's for an international audience and God help them. I've actually found far more info on setting everything up through the pages of this forum. But the questions still stand - input level and phase adjust - what?

Have to say the Mark 2's are great but are a little tinny for first few hours.

My Mark 1 got a bump on the grille on way to new owner. Anyone know if the grilles can be replaced??

I 've had my v2 eggs for five days now and am enjoying every moment with them. They look great in our newly decorated living room! I do agree about the poor documentation. What exactly is the 12/24db slope switch? Also prospective buyers should note that there are no high level speaker terminals in the new subwoofer, just high pass phono outputs. This totally threw me when I saw this but Audio T say they are making me a lead to connect to my Naim amps for stereo listening.

Audio T in Brentwood. Very nice people gave me a good demo of the version 1 and an equally good part exchange. No budget prices though but very convienient for me.

Cheers. I have Dynaudio Audience 50s and Atacama stands to shift, so the High Street trade-in may be the way to go, rather than a discount....

Also they had the knowledge to get the eggs to work in stereo with my Naims, and are providing the leads free of charge. As I said, I was totally stumped when I discovered no speaker terminals on the new sub.

This switch chooses how fast the frequency response rolls off above the cross over you've set. For example, if you've set the Xover to 80Hz the response at 160Hz will either be 12dB down or 24dB down. Which one you choose depends on the characteristics of your other speakers. Just see which one gives a better integration with the rest of your system.

Thanks for that. I'll have a play. Beats me that Kef don't give it a single mention.
