Ive upgraded to DVi-D which is the same as HDMI in terms of quality.

More than the conection, its the content that you watch through it.

ie. I recently got a DVD player that uses HDMI/DVI-D and I compared the 2 conections. DVi-D VS Component.

Since this particular DVD player uses higher resolution through DVi and HDMI (720p and 1080i) it certainly looked better than component.
But thats not exactly a fair comparison.

I also played some games on my XBox (soul calibur 2) through component at 720p and again it was impressive.

Its hard to say because there arent many products out there that use HDMI or DVI, or even Component for that matter.

Only games consoles, DVD players at this point.

In theory, a digital cable like HDMI should be better than an analogue cable like component. But it all depends on what you are passing though that cable.
