Over at AVS Forum, someone has blocked the clear segment of the colour wheel using a silver permanent marker. This has improved black level and contrast ratio.

Thumper does similar mods to the Davis range, so I was wondering if anyone over here has done these mods, and could give us the low down on the procedure...

The clear section blanking seems the easiest, and then there's the blackening of the DMD chip/optical reflections, and internal masking of the light overspill to reduce halo.

I'm curious to find out what people here have actualy done, and what results they got - were they worth the effort?

    Cheers.

    Gary.
