whine on hard drive

    my 60gbt hard drive has developed a horrible high pitched whine,it's so bad it is hurting my ears,can someone recommend a replacement?price around £80.
    also what is a "sata"drive?.

    sata is the replacement connection for IDE.. you use a small cable similiar to a USB one to connect the HD to the motherboard.

    I use a samsung spinpoint 160GB.. it cost about £80..

    thanks matt,where does it fit on the mobo?my pc is over 2 yrs old how do i make sure it's compatible

    Nah - SATA ports haven't been around that long, so i doubt you will be able to fit one. Best go for IDE
