I'll be setting mine up soon and just wondered what is the best way to set-up the drive?

I notice it has rubber pads for horizontal positioning but many of the pics I've seen show it standing vertically...but there are no rubber pads for this. My 360 is vertical so I'd prefer this.

Which way round have you got your HD-DVD drive?

I scratched my COD2 disc by having my 360 vertical initially, so I will not be risking the same thing with my HD DVD drive. What happened: When I closed the disc tray the disc slipped out of its correct sitting position and got wedged between the chrome face plate of the drive and the edge of the opening where the drive is. This created a deep grove in the disc and it no longer worked, although I did manage to repair it.

I have them both horizontal now as I believe it's more secure and safer for the discs.

    Blimey...not good.

However, I've actually managed to do this before with CD/DVD players that are horizontal. I've put discs in in a hurry and then closed the tray and the disc was not sitting properly:eek: It's never caused any damage though...so far.

The rubber feet are only for the Horizontal position.

If you have it vertical, on shiny surface, it slides around like Torville and Dean on acid.

i have mine vertically because it seems slightly quieter that way, but do agree that it moves about too much, especially when pressing eject.

I've got mine vertical like my 360 but it can't move because it's got stuff either side of it,
while still leaving the air vents clear I hasten to add.
