Which wall mount for 42" Panasonic Plasma and how high?

Hi,

As the subject states, can someone recommend a bracket for my 42" Panasonic Plasma television (they cost £50 at Richer Sounds and Comet) and advise how high it should be hung on the wall?

Also, how difficult are the brackets to put up oneself? I live in a "new build" house with cavity walls and am worried that if I start drilling and use standard fixings/plugs myself, it may not be strong enough to support a television.

Thanks in advance.

I'm hopefully picking up a 42" Panasonic G30 tomorrow and was looking for a bracket for it and I stumbled on to this thread and was wondering how you got on?

I've just placed an order for one of the mounts you linked to (Designer Habitat Wall Tilt Bracket for 32 - 55 inch LCD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics).

I've had a little search around and it seems to suggest that you get the middle of the screen around 48" from the ground. It's quite hard to imagine it so I was thinking of cutting out a cardboard shape and holding it against the wall to get a better idea of how it would look. In my mind it seems a little low but I'll see how the cardboard TV looks :)

Anyone got any advice for a novice mounting a TV on to chimney?

Generally I'd aim to have the centre of the screen around about eye level when you're seated but tastes differ. Personally I'd rather go low than having to tilt my head back to look up at the screen. The card thing and a friend to hold it is the best thing to do though - then you can get a real feel for how it will look.

Fitted it on the wall today and really happy. Went for the middle being eye level and feels natural so far. Enjoying the extra space too.
