I orignally order Shrek from Play.

But then noticed that the R4 copy is out a week later and its about £5 cheaper.

So, I canceled my order with Play and went to Ezydvd instead.

But it looks like the R1 version is 2 disk and also DTS.

Does anyone know anything about the different versions?

With the R1 the 1st disc is the "kids disc" with a fullscreen version and kiddie playthings like games and cartoons and whatever. The 2nd disc is the "grown ups disc" with anamorphic widescreen, commentary, making of's etc that's more for the adult audience.
Why the assumption from Dreamworks that young 'uns don't want to see it widescreen?

I'm getting the R1.

Isn't it strange how in the case of 'The Mummy Returns' the R1 was 1 disk and DD, but the R4 was 2 disks and DTS.

With Shrek, its the exact opposite!

Whilst I don't really care if its DTS or not.. For the extra few quid its got to be worth it., I might have to get the R1 after all..

Not sure about the extras. Although the R1 version is a 2 disc set, much of that is down to the inclusion of a P&S version of the movie.
