Which version of the old UK TV series "Robin of Sherwood" is best?

The UK R2 season box sets or the newer R1 complete set which has "new digital masters"? Do both contain the same extras? Any quality issues with the PAL to NTSC conversion for the R1 set?

Thanks much in advance for any tips (including where to buy... large stores like Amazon don't seem to carry it, small stores ask list prices...)

R1 version of PAL television show (like this one) will either have 4% slowdown in sound (due to 3:2 telecining) or motion judder (due to inserting duplicate frames); furthermore, NTSC has 20% less vertical resolution than PAL so image definition will be lost too.

The golden rule here is to buy television series in their original format if possible.

    HI,

Buy the UK Region 2 versions, in either single disc editions, double-disc boxed sets, or the entire 3-season series in one behemoth set. All contents are identical, and the R2 versions still look good, despite their age.

One minor word of warning though. Seasons 1 and 2, with Michael Praed are the best. Season 3, with Jason Connery replacing Mr Praed in the titular role, is pretty wooden, and the show's final season doesn't withstand repeated viewings!
