Hi there.

I would be grateful for some advice on buying a Christmas present for my son.

One of his requested gifts, from Father Christmas, is Minecraft for his Xbox One.

I have put "Minecraft" into Amazon and it comes up with loads of versions:

There is standard, ultimate, dungeon etc.

Any advice on which one to get would be very much appreciated.

I'll ask my son if he knows but he's out at the moment. He plays it (aged 23!) on his desktop PC and has done for years, so he might have some input.

If you don't get any other replies in the meantime, just tag me or quote this post to remind me.

Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons are effectively different games. Your son presumably didn't mean Minecraft Dungeons if they only said "Minecraft" although a fan of Minecraft might enjoy both of them.

I think Ultimate is a prefix only applied to some add-on content ("DLC") and the more expensive edition of Minecraft Dungeons that already includes the add-on content.

If your son doesn't already have any Minecraft games, then I'd guess you'd be okay with Minecraft Starter Collection. It's currently £10 more expensive on disc from Amazon than as a digital code (also the same prices at Argos right now):
