For all you guild wars players and anyone else who might know, I would like to know which version is the most popular and played in the series with all the expansion packs and stand alones available.

    many thanks

Most people I know like Prophecies most as it is arguably the largest one. However, NightFall has most of the "kinks" ironed out, so plays better. Each is a stand-alone, however you can move your character from one to the other, once you get to certain points in the game.

Of course, there's a new expansion coming out around September as well as Guild Wars 2 :) The new expansion requires you to have at least one of the three current games.

If you're wondering where to start, NightFall is probably the best one to start with.

I was wondering the same question glad you thought of it. Can't find a cheaper price than £17.99 sadly though.

That's still not a bad price when you consider that there are no subscription fees to pay.

I found Prophecies more enjoyable for single player, takes a fair bit longer to level up than the other 2 chapters though. Nightfall is probably best for PvP, as it contains all the classes :).

No, it doesn't. Nightfall will only allow you access to the 2 characters in Factions (Ritualist and Assassin) if you own it. Likewise if you only have Factions you won't be able to access the 2 in Nightfall. The 6 core classes are available in each game though.

I got nightfall for a tenner a while back but gave up as soon as I got stuck at an unbeatable boss (varesh I think, after the giant worms).
