I'm looking to buy a VCR for less than £150. I'm looking for the best picture and sound quality. I'm not really interested in all the other features and don't care what it looks like.

    Any suggestions?

At £150 you can take your pick of just about all the VHS VCR's out there and even some of the S-VHS machines.
If you want a VHS machine so you can use the tapes on other VCR's then the Sony machines are always good, but maybe slightly more expensive than others.
S-VHS machines will only play back on other S-VHS machines (if useing best quality S-VHS tapes etc.) but the extra quality can be a large improvement.
Most manufacturers only make a few models now, so pick a make and then go for the best one within your budget.

    Mark.

I hear there could be a VCR with digital tuner out around the summer.
Price could be in the ballpark you want, or not far off it.
