    Hi,

Im considering buying one of the amps above, can anyone advise which is better? in terms of Stereo and AV performance.

Which would yield better overall sound (DVD, CD, DVD-A &SACD)

Pioneer VSX-AX5i-S teamed with DV-868AVi-S OR

    Denon AVC-A11SR teamed with DVD-2900

    Thanks

I have a 2011 the "ancestor" of the AX5 and I would say that of the two the Denon is a much better amp, both in movie and stereo peformance.

However the AX5 has ilink and can be connected to 868 via this method and by all accounts this gives exceptional performance. I believe the 868 is also a better disc spinner than the 2900 so in terms of a match I'd go for the Pioneers over the Denons. The 868 can also output digital video via HDMI so if you're going to get a display capable of handling the new digital format then the choice is a no brainer.

The deal maker for me when faced with a similar choice was MCACC which is just excellent
