Hi there everyone, basically I am looking at a 37-42'' plasma tv, for SD tv viewing and playing games/blu-ray movies via my ps3. I am looking to spend around £500 and would appreciate any tips on what tv to buy. I know this is the lazy option but I really have no clue on flat screen tv's, so help would be much appreciated :)

Thank you all so much :)

around £500, I would look at the Panasonic P37X10 and the LG 42PQ6000. Both at Dixons for just under £500 (use code "5TV" at check out. For £560 there is the 42X10.

Check out the review of the X10 on this site.

They're the best TVs you will find for that money, they're not full HD but you shouldn't worry about that, especially given your relatively small budget

Unless you're going to have it in a very small room, I must recommend going with a 42". Having seen a 37" and 42" side by side, the 37" is really small in comparison while a 42" will be enough for most livingrooms. Panasonics P42X10 is nice bargain right now.

Get the 42" X10 - perfect for your budget and some very happy owners on a thread here somewhere...go and have a look in the X10 thread.

Dont forget - get the biggest tv you can afford! :D

Until recently I had an older version of the X10 - the 42" PX60. This one had a few colour problems (not the X10!) but is still a lovely set and looks even better now after 2.5 years (down my very happy mum and dads house!)

I'd say that the LG is the better set (just to balance things out), especially if you want accurate colours which you can't get on the X10 (which is still a very good TV)

I wouldn't buy it from Dixons.

Tellys are one of those items that can go wrong, - and if it does, Dixons, Currys, Comet whatever they want to call themselves at the moment, - will tell you to go fudge yourself.

John Lewis will not only give you a 5 year guarentee, - their customer service is actually worth something.
