Neither of them do Dolby Digital 5.1

Beware that the Philips also does not do 60Hz PAL, which might be a problem with a games console. Mind you, not sure if the JVC does either.

I've never played my xbox at 60hz either.. well I did a few times when playing Burnout 3 online (since it was an issue mixing the modes when playing onlie) but that was a POS game anyway. Is there another console which requires 60hz PAL?

Famished, I had issues in picking a tv by searching online. I'd urge you to find a good shop (not currys etc) and see the sets for yourself. You can compare picture and stlye (I found the Panasonic stands looked pants in a pic but were quite nice in person).

Then go online and see what bargains you can get there. I bought mine instore but it was only £20 more and it gave me peace of mind that if I get any problems I can take it right back. Plus I got an extra 2 years warranty at that price :D

Is there much difference between 50 and 60hz when playing a xbox? I have played a xbox on that philips model with no problems.

You can change your xbox between 50 and 60hz mode, it's in the options on the dashboard. The 60hz is supposed to deliver a sharper picture but you'd have to play around and see if it does.

I always read the comments before buying anything from Ebuyer, and one of the comments on that TV was that it didn't do 60Hz PAL. This may or may not be a problem for you.
