There's a good R4 v R1 comparison site which says Top Gun R4 is better than R1 - but still not very good!!!

    http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/TopGun.html

I've just ordered the R4 version from www.ezydvd.com.au - I'll let you know what it's like next week.

    Cheers
OG

Reiner - there are as many people who like the film as there are that take the pi55!

I watched it *again* on Saturday and, whilst it may have more corn than the Jolly Green Giant, it is still one of my all time favourites - probably because when it came out I was 17/18 and would have killed to be flying around like them all day!?! The wife was happy to watch it again too, possibly 'cos she's a Tom fan!

FYI the R4 version of the film is excellent. The review URL posted above is spot on but probably a little critical. I mean, if you 'watch the film' you won't notice the grain changes etc, obviously you do if you watch it specifically to review it.

    Cheers
OG

    compare dvd regions at www.dvdcompare.org , covers regions 1, 2 and 4.

confucius knows of asite to check to see if the film is cut, but i dont remember what it is.

as a rule, most french and US films go uncut (should be doubly assured with canadian ones then ), not sure about japanese though.
