Which system to go for?!

Hi,

I want to buy a home cinema system for my living room, but don't know where to start!

I have been told that the Denon DHT-500 and 550 are very good. But, whilst I like my CDs and DVDs, I am unsure that I would be able to tell the difference between those and cheaper systems (the Sony DAV-DZ100, for example). Am I misguided?

The room is about 15x12 feet. I have a new Samsung CRT TV (WS-32Z308), and intend to get Sky Plus. Other than watching DVDs and listening to CDs, I don't think I intend to use the system for anything else.

Please advise!

If you want to avoid wires try the Sony Dav x1 , 2 speaker system. Its absolutely fantastic and is a lot better sound quality than my previous sony dav 550. Sound and bass is excellent .Excellent picture via component and great sound via optical with sky plus. I have linked up a samsung HDMI DVD player through it and its awesome upscaled pictures and great sound .
The price is retail £899 plus speaker stands but you can buy on the web eg RGB Direct for about £650. Check it out at a Sony store.

Hi Mark.

I'm at the early stages of research into turning my selection of boxes and wires into something my wife might just find acceptable. I've been looking at five speaker systems. How do you get better sound out of just two?!
