I am looking for a subwoofer with a maximum budget of £500.
    What recommendations would you give?
At the moment it will be mainly used for music and would be used in a stereo only system - how do you connect it without a dedicated sub out?

I do watch DVDs etc too though so something that is good for movies too would help and I do intend at some stage to change over to DD or similar - space allowing!

For a £500 budget I recommend either the B&W ASW1000 or the newer ASW650 (? the better of the 600 series subs).

    They are both very good.

Connecting without a sub preout you have two options.

If you amp has stereo pre-outs then you can use these to the matching inputs on the sub, or you can run speaker level. This can either involve daisy chaining the sub into the speaker runs or running the sub from a B speaker output on your amp.

    Have fun!

Easy. If you have space and if it's only for movies, go for the Servo 15 at Richer Sounds - you can't go wrong.
