    Hey guys,

I'd like to invest some money in a new subwoofer...but since I live in a country where pretty few companies have representatives, it's not so easy to chose a good product. :suicide:

What I've found is a subwoofer with pretty good reviews:
Epos Els Sub - could buy it around 400 EUR. Did any of you guys have experiences with this subwoofer?

The other alternative would be to travel to another country next to me (Bulgaria) and buy a Velodyne subwoofer from there (CHT-R-10: 400 EUR, CHT-R-12: 500 EUR).

So my question is if it's worth it to travel and buy a Velodyne instead of taking the Epos sub.

    P.S.: My actual sound-system:
    Yamaha DVD-S550
    Yamaha RX-V540
    Tannoy Mx-2 front
    Tannoy MX-R rear
    Elac MC 60 center
Magnat Vector Needle 25 <- this one I want to change
Music/Video played on this system: 50%/50%

Is that first hand experience as according to your signature you have a B&W ASW2500 and a Rel Stampede.

There was a recent subwoofer test in a hifi magazine and the Epos sub did well in terms of music reproduction as it was one of the better subs at keeping up with fast and complex bass rythms whereas the Velodyne has less finesse but perhaps more slam instead.

    Much depends on your priorities.

next week i'll have the chance to test the epos els. if i get a proper sound on both fields (movie and music) then i'll drop the velodyne.

i'll keep you informed about the resulst.

thanks again...and back to the Computer and Electronics Romanian Fair where i am writing you from atm :)

I would say that the Epos sub was one of the weak points in the ELS system that I heard but can't compare it to the Velodyne.

I suspect that either, if set up well, would be a fine sub. :)
