You may get more input in the arcam forum. PMC seem very popular.

    Wasnt sure about them

    Seemed a little flat/neutral?

Because I listen to RnB/Soul I suppose I wanted some more sparkle.

    Whats your views?

That is the way they have been designed. Being a manufacturer of professional studio monitors, those very characteristics are what is desired. I understand that many people would not like it, particularly after so many years of listening to non-neutral/coloured speakers.

My views are very favourable towards them, I like their honesty and no nonsense approach to reproducing the source accurately. If you are looking for more sparkle then the Monitor Audio GS series might suit you better.

A vote for the PMC's and Totems, the Totems would be an easier drive for the Arcam amps and I've yet to hear a bad Totem speaker, the PMC range are bit on the power hungry side. Crusty is spot on with his description. If the electronics behind the amps are flat and lifeless then that's what you'll hear.

Don't count the Monitor Audio's out. I actually recently upgraded to a pair of MA GR 20s (old series). I also demoed the GS series but there is not much difference in sound - more a cosmetical upgrade.

But really, if you like dynamic sound - the arcam- MA cobo is really good. I would even suggest to go for the GS or GR 60s. They have an incredibly fast and thight bass. The old GR series can currently be found at bargain prcies. Bought my GR20s at about 1/3rd of the original price...

Apart from listening to them? No.....
Not many speakers deliver what they can for the money. Their ease to drive should be a bonus for you. The Arcam amps that i've heard tend to loose their grip with difficult loads hence PMC don't sound great.
I could recommend the Revel F32's. These truelly are a stunningly good speaker, bland as hell to look at but the performance far surpasses anything mentioned. However stick them on the end of some 100w into 8ohm amps and they'll be the worst thing you'll hear all day.
Trick is to get the balance right. No sense spending a fortune on the speakers when the amps won't drive them. The recomendation for the MA gold series is good. They'll brighten up the somewhat laid back Arcam sound. However forget the GR 60's unless you spend more on the amps.

Bottom line is take the time to demo. Loads of different opinions and loads of different ears. What's good for one isn't necessarily good for you. Take the time and get the right mix. Bigger isn't always better.

I know of a few totem dealers around the country. Where are you?
You may also want to give Focal JMLab a look another quite 'forward' speaker.
