i'm about too replace my sony davs 400 for a sony 1080amp

which speakers would be best suited to this amp ?
i currently have old B&W 601 (8 ohms) on spiked stands which sound ok .
if they are suitable i would keep them and just get center , rears, and sub .

my room is approx 14 x 12 feet . and i mainly watch dvds.

i like the look off the B&W ... VM1 speakers and was considering them for the center and rears.
are they ok too use with this amp and would they sound ok ?

any help would be much appreciated.

    setup can be viewed at

    then click home cinema.

How about matching your existing 601s with an LCR60 for front (or a S/H LCR6) with 600s at the back?

Have to agree with Vikki/Steff, even newer DM series speakers will be a closer match to your old 601s than the VM1s.

just had a look at these speakers , (b&w lcr range)

looks ok but i would prefer silver or black , i think they only come with the wood effect case.

so maybe still go for the VM1's .
i know they are probably entry level speakers but does any1 know if they sound ok ?

i havent seen any reviews on them . good or bad .

The VM1s won a what hifi shoot out with other similar sized speakers. They beat the kef eggs etc...

I know that What HiFi group tests don't always meet with the approval of a lot of people on this forum, but I am just reporting what happened in the test. If you don't like the result moan at What Hifi not me

    Steff

(who loves b&w speakers so is slightly biased in these matters)

Edit: I have to say though that unless you have money to throw away I would go for the better sounding centre which is the LCR60 because wouldn't you be thinking I wonder how good it would be with....

The centre really is quite fundametal to 5.1 (yes I know it's 5 dot 1 and all six channels are important, but some are *more* important then others).

:suicide: maybe that is why i'm so broke :suicide:
