I had a pair of Acoustic Energy AE109’s with the 107c Centre. They sounded great but now I have not got the space for the 109’s. Has anyone got any recommendations? I have a MORDAUNT-SHORT MS-304 CENTRE (borrowed) and using the TV speakers as fronts and powering all the other speakers from the TV at the minute (the TV is 5.1 but I do have a Pioneer 5.1 amp). The MS-304 does sound tinny, I have to turn my active sub up to get some feeling. Will the MORDAUNT-SHORT sound better when hooked up to the amp with 80W going through them? Is there a sub/sat system or a small speaker system i can use with my sub out there that is going to give action films some feeling at a reasonable price? I am looking at the MORDAUNT-SHORT MS-304 + 4 X MS-302. Or The Acoustic Energy AEGO P5 System or even Mission M3s 5.1 speakers. Has anyone got any advice Or other speaker recommendations ???

Don't know whether you are interested but I have a pair of AE100i stand-mount speakers for sale in the hardware classifieds section. You could perhaps wall mount these to save space, should you want to carry on using your Acoustic Energys.

Strangely enough, I also used to have a Mordaunt-Short 304, along with the rest of the MS Premiere setup. I can tell you that the AE100i give a much stronger, warmer, full range in comparison to the MS satellites.

    da2ca,

You should give the Canton CD Series an audition. Either their CD100 floor standers which are (W x H x D/cm) 9 x 103 x 10. very slim and beautiful looking, but with their metal drivers and being sealed, are seriously punchy and go amazing loud without breaking up. if you can't have floor standers, try 3 CD50's up front (CD50 is the center but Canton have designed it tobe used as a front as well) or you can order the package as 5 CD50's. If you really can't have that size speaker on the wall then try the Movie CD1 as the CD10 salatites again are big at heart.

    Give them a try.

    Regards

The AE100i i think are still a bit big. Thanks anyway.
“Canton” never heard of them, but when I get home (I’m on the office pc at the moment) I will look into them. Are they pricey?

I believe his reason for buying new speakers was for a space issue! ;) ;)

Isn’t it great when a speaker system gets such good reviews But looks so cooool in the process. I could just about stretch to the centre, but there is no way I can afford the floorstanders @ £440.00 (I know I didn’t mention price).
If money was no object the Movie CD 2.22 would be the set for me @£895.00.
You don’t have a second hand/demo set for sale by anychance? :lease:

Hayes, looking at your site I can't seem to find pricing for the Canton stuff? Am I being a cretin?

da2ca - Depneind gon what you're after what about the ALR/Jordan Entry series speakers?

I've got the ALR fronts and centre - the fronts are bookshelf style 130 x 215 x 190 mm.

    The centre is 430 x 130 x 190 mm?

I have mine coupled with a pair of Tannoy MxR's at the rear.

I'm thinking about upgrading and these may be for sale in the near future, when I've decided on a price...

    Mornin'

I've been brought in to specialise in the audio side of the company and have been very busy auditioning all kinds of new equipment and bringing in everything that I'm impressed with. Canton do many things well, They sound great, they have around 330 speakers in total  you can mix and match within ranges, the build quality is amazing, their reference speakers are exceptional and comparable to speakers more than twice their price I've heard them :D

Anyway, I've side tracked, While I'm bringing all these new products in the poor Webmaster can't keep up  they are hopefully going on today. The subwoofers are on the site already, The price you will notice is the retail price as we're not really allowed to discount, but we have a very good relationship with Standesign (Canton UK) and they have allowed us to give you, as forum members, a discount.

    Hope this clears things up.

I just had a quote from a German firm for the CD 2.22 that was £576 excluding delivery!! That's nearly 50% off the UK price! Mental!

Hayes, is there a response to that price or are we best off going to the German dealers?

Just a further note, I just had a quote for the 4.25 system from Germany that was £893, against a UK RRP of £1500....
