Im in the same boat as you !. I know that JVC are discont. the set your looking at, and there concentrating on there new set AV-28EX5B
which has had great reviews.

I know the panny set has had a lot of problems with switching off, and digital going off etc....but i also know a lot of people who have the panny set and love it.

Its either of the 2 sets or a LCD Samsung 26".

I have just bought a JVC 28EX5BK and the picture quality is terrible!

Text is blurry, this can be especially seen on BBC news 24 and the straight lines of message boxes bend down at the corners. I think the guns must be misaligned or something.

In fact the picture is pretty much unwatchable.

I have arranged to take it back and replace it with a TX28DTX11 which I hope will be much better.

I dont know how the JVC could have ever got good reviews with these faults.

Has anyone had any problems with the Panasonic?

The D40 isn't being replaced with the EX5. They are different sets.

The D40 is top of the range with DIST & extra features.

The EX5 is standard 100Hz with Digipure but no DIST.

I spoke to JVC and they said they have ended there line of sets with DIST on
and that there digipure set is there best current run CRT out there.

I aint a great fan of JVC anyway.....im a philips or panny fan !

Sounds like whoever you spoke to got their wires crossed. DIST has continued on to all of the new LCDs, although it's called Dynapix now. The D40 will be around until March 2006 at least.
