I am about to get ADSL and want to buy a router, but I don''t know which one to get.

Popular ones seem to be the Netgear DG814 & Speedtouch 510 V4.

    Any others I should consider?

DSL-Warehouse are currently offering 2 free ethernet adaptors with the DG814.

    Any help appreciated :)

Linksys BEFSR41 or 81 depending on the number of ports you need.
Have a look at Dabs was <£40

The Linksys BEFSR41 needs to be connected to an external dsl modem - is this correct?

I think I need an adsl router with an integrated modem.

Personally, I would go for Netgear everytime, very reliable and simple to use.

I think I'll probably get the Netgear DG814 (with 2 free ethernet cards). It seems to have everything I need in one package.

I've got the Speedtouch, and I've had no problems with it at all. Very easy to setup. Gets my stamp of approval.

    i use a DLink DSL 504.

Vote for it from me. 4 posrts, easy set up, works a treat with X Box Live.

ask on www.adslguide.org.uk forums, they know their stuff on there. i looked at the netgear when i was buying but there was a problem with the firmware at the time. might be sorted now though. there aint a lot of difference between the two unless you are looking for detailed functionality.

i got mine from www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk and their CS was outstanding.

mmm, some people are reporting problems with the Netgear DG814 on various forums, but many people have had no problems. Seems to be pot luck.

I still can't decide which one to get

jim mate. this reminds me of me at the time i was doing the research.

save yourself some heartache - they are all much of a muchness.

I've had the DSL 504 and used it daily since i got it with not 1 problem. Its easy to set up and works with X Box Live - which is what i am assuming you want it for as you posted it in here?

I dont regret my purchase at all.

After many hours reading various forums I decided to get a Speedtouch 510V4. It seems to be a well regarded piece of kit.

Thanks for all your replies :)
