Which is the best region DVD of Sin City to go for?
I believe all releases will have the same content - just the film + a small featurette - so it's down to price I think & if you prefer PAL/NTSC.
Actually, the R3 available from CDWow comes with some postcards and Amazon have a special R2 set complete with 3 graphic novels for £37. But as I said, if it's just film you're interested in and not some fancy packaging then it's down to price & PAL/NTSC preference.
does the region 1 have dts es like R3?
Yes, the R1 has DTS.
Are these a reprint of the normal comics? and is that all of them?
Yes i never really read them, so was wondering if the novels add anything if you read them beforehand, or watch the movie and read after? Might get this amazon deal for completeness if thats all the novel/comics.
I was going to hold out for the Extended Edition but saw the R3 version on CDWow and thought what the hell, only £11.99 and it comes with a notebook and exclusive postcards, cant be bad
Mine arrived today from Movietyme
When you order I can highly recommended them. All comms have been outstanding and the service has not been better from anywhere else I've ordered from.
They are reprints - I don't think that's all of the graphic novels, just the relevant ones to the film. I'm no expert though as I haven't read them myself, so someone else here may know better.
I think you can pick up the graphic novels for around a tenner from Forbidden Planet - Play have some in stock too, I think.
Or you could wait for the extended version due end of the year - isnt it??
No official word on the extended SE release, only mentioned in a couple of interviews by Rodriguez that it is coming - but Tarantino said the same thing about Kill Bill 1&2 SE's and we're still waiting for them aren't we?
Also, if Harry Knowles is to be believed, the SE will not contain the theatrical cut of the film (again, no official word yet but Knowles is a mate of Rodriguez) so you pays your money and takes your choice.
Just got my region 1 release. I'd never seen this before - what a great film! A lot more violent than I was expecting as well - the wife spent most of the film looking at a cushion.
For the record the R1 has superb picture quality and the DTS track is good (although I did feel that the centre channel narration was perhaps a bit too loud in comparison to the rest of the film but perhaps that's just me - better than being too quiet I suppose).
considering the magnitude of this film, i doubt we'll have to wait too long for a special edition. Besides, Rodriguez is a fan of SE dvd's and is of the opinion that a dvd should always be loaded with extra features, so it's more or less a certainty it'll come out. I bet we'll see the SE in time for Christmas.
if Rodriguez is a fan of SE dvd's with tons of extras where's one of the Faculty! surely it's due by now.
Still no official release date for the SE of Sin City but there's an interview with Rodriguez here in which he discusses the dvd....http://dvd.ign.com/articles/641/641160p1.html
