They're both a bit pricey. Are both consoles here in the UK?

Not bad then. At least you won't have to shell out for import tax & delivery. I was under the impression that both consoles were the same. But I did hear somewhere that consoles made in China were having more problems with functioning than say consoles made in Japan. God knows how true this rumour is though. ????

Do you have a 360 yet, Have you thought maybe buying a premiem plus 4 TOP games and a extra wireless controller could be a better idea? (340)

Yes the PS3 is potentionaly a fantastic console but at the moment its just a BluRay player with two good games.

If you dont have a 360 think about it and forget the PS3 hype for about six months, After six months maybe one may out do the other, But as we speak the 360 is by far the better machine.

but to be fair the one for 600 with more games is a better buy 2 more games for a extra 50

maybe i should just go for that one....

    Cheers

I guess it depends which games are included. Not really worth it if they're crap ones you're not gonna play.

If you get a Jap console, wont most of the games be in Japanese?

Or is there an English option?

Are the Jap or US games cheaper?

    Thanks.

The HK models come with a 220V power supply altough that doesn't really matter as they are multi voltage anyway. I do believe HK is region 3 for normal DVD's so more then likely normal UK region 2 DVD's will not play on an HK console. For Blu-ray it is the same region as Japan and the US.

A Japanese PS3 will play region 2 NTSC dvd's. My understanding is that it won't play UK R2 PAL dvd's though.

If the games are all decent in the £600 bundle it's probably the better deal & you'd be hard pushed to buy 2 games for £50 from a UK seller.

If your willing to run Linux on your machine you can get your DVDs to work that way, but then its alot of hassle and we all likely have either a DVD player or PS2 anyway.

Personally Im actually happier with the ability to play both Jap and American Blue-rays. What with the prices from abroad being the same if not cheaper than here.

Sorry - I'm a bit nooby, but got a few questions.

Is there an advantage in getting a Jap/Us over each other?

I know Jap can play PAL DVDs via Linux, but can the US version.

And will both consoles have the same language options in games?

    :lesson:

    Last one!

Is £380 good for 20GB [Jap] and £420 for 60GB? [US]

    Many thanks all!

Oh, I'd like the email/bay ID. Many thanks!

And can't you dodge customs by sticking things like "Fragile vase" and stuff?

I got mine on UK ebay for £375 delivered. 60 GB Japan version no games or extras. I think £420 isn't bad though, a couple of weeks ago they were selling for £100-200 more than that.

Thanks. I'd prefer to get a US console though, as all the language is british, unless that option is in most/all of Japanese games?

Not sure if there is any other advantages?

Thanks for getting back to me :)
