    Hi
I've just bought a new sanyo z1 pj & am looking for a new dvd player.
    The z1 can output these
    480i
    575i
    480p
    575p
    720p
    1035i
    1080i
So which one of those signals is best for me & i have pal dvd's plus i'll be now buying US dvd's
So with that in mind, what dvd should i be looking at for between £800-£1000

    Thank
    Jay

You absolutely, definately, totally want Progressive Scan.

after a year of having a Panny 100, I now have a Denon3800, doing Pal P, and the picture is superb, twice as good as the previous Tosh210 (loaned) and Panny A360 I'd been using.

It appears to me, that the best you can feed the projector, the best it will look.

Candidates have to be Denon 3800, Pioneer 757i (not pal-p though), and there's a cheapy new Phillips that's well loaded and easily hacked for Pal-P.

Oh, and arcam dv88+. apparently a lot sharper than the Denon, with good sound. I personally like the softer picture given by a Denon.

    Considerations should be
    - do you plan to play CDs through it. (I have a £500 CD player for that, you'd have to have a very good dvd player to compete).

    - DVD-A or SACD attract you?

    - does layer change annoy you.

    - do you want it to match your amp?

(do projectors always start a steeper upgrade path?)

Oh, and also a HTPC, if you want to get the most out of the pj.

the Harman Kardon DVD 25 supports PAL PS and is the latest darling of the What HiFi S+V reviewers. Do a search as there is lots on this forum about this player ( plus at £350 list price its alot cheaper than its rivals)

Cheers :smashin: thats another to look at:rolleyes:

I like the look of the arcam dv88+ & Denon 3800 but has anyone see both of these players & which is the best?
Don't worry for that money i will be getting a demo of both but like to hear what others think.

Well let's just say i wouldn't have even thought of spending £1000 on a dvd player if i hadn't got the pj:rolleyes:
