    Hi All,

I have been considering buying a new DVD player and would like peoples opinions. I've narrowed it down to the following

    Denon 2910 £462.94 (Empire Direct)
    Pioneer DV668 - £459.95 (Krish Av)

My absolute limit would be £500 and i can get either of these for under this figure. I want to use it 50/50 Music & Movies. Not fussed about SACD or DVD-Audio. But i need something reliable when playing DVD-R/CD-R and also Multi-Region

It will also be connected to Viera Plasma via Component (until i can afford a HDMI enabled plasma) and the sound is outputted thru my Denon 3805 via optical.

Could anyone recommend either of these or should i look at other models

Your help would be greatly appreciated

Well, I would say don't touch Denon, though I haven't had a 2910, I've had a 3800, and now a 2900, both with utterly unacceptable problems, to the extent that I am close to writing off £800 by throwing away the ****ty 2900 and buying something that actually works.

I've been doing some more looking and may up my budget

I've narrowed it down to the following.

    Pioneer DV868
    Arcam DV78

Can anyone recommend either of these or what i should go for. I don't want to waste my hard earned cash on a player that will give me grief when it comes to playing different media, picture problems etc etc.

    Thanks

868 not worth it imo as it is an HDMI player and PE30 has RGBHV or YUV inputs......for best DVD replay....... Perhaps an Arcam sonically superb........reconmend you demo mate most dealers (panny) wil have a PE30 on demo so easy enough to get a demo

I purchased the Pioneer 668 and very impressed with the build quality and picture quality. Played Empire Strikes Back through Component (progressive) and picture was outstanding. :D
