    Hi, first time poster.

I'm a bit of a technology retard so bear with me.

We're looking to purchase a plasma tv for under £1000 if possible. After a visit to Comet and Currys we were left confused as to which one to buy. Before we got there we didn't even know what HD was. Now we're desperate to get one that will accommodate it!

We're looking ideally for a 26", HD ready slim screen for under £1k. My mum's putting up the money for it, so whereas I'm more bothered about what it can do, she's adamant that it's got to look nice. I play a lot of PS2 and watch a sh*tload of footie on Sky, so I don't know if there's a specific make that's better for these? Any recommendations greatly appreciated, 'cos at the moment I'm confused as hell!

    Cheers, Kirbz.

Interesting in that latest edition of "Home Cinema" (October 2005) Sony have decided to drop plasma and concentrate on LCD for HD - see page 8 for article.

If it's only a small screen size you're interested in and it has to be a flat panel TV, then stick to LCD - much less problematic than plasma.

Not to mention the writng on the wall from the Sony announcement.

Yeah for Sony plasma (maybe), they've been saying they are getting out of plasma for nearly a year; but then they never were very good at it.

since you need a gaming and footy TV, you need to make sure you have a fast refresh rate <= 8ms otherwise you will may see smearing, also your source can affect this as well
