    Guys,

After a bit of advice. I have the option of one of the following plasmas, and very little chance of seeing them all together. They are :

    Toshiba 42WP27B - 852x480 - 3000:1
    Hitachi 42PMA400E - 1024x1024 - 1000:1
    Panasonic TH42PW5B - 852x480 - 3000:1

Anyone have any experience of these? The Hitachi gets a great review, but i cant find anything about the Panny or the Tosh. I've gone round and round trying to decide which one.... just need a little helping hand

Also, on an RGB/scart system, how important is the resolution/contrast information?

    Thanks guys :)

    Paul

You have two screens exactly the same - the Tosh is really a panasonic

    Toshiba 42WP27B - 852x480 - 3000:1
    is a
    Panasonic TH42PW5B - 852x480 - 3000:1

I have a panasonic, parents toshiba - both excellent units. Never seen a Hitachi unit so wouldn't like to comment.

    Faxfan2002,

I had my suspicions - thanks for confirming that :)

Ok another question - resolution and the other figure ive quoted - anyone got an explanation of these, and also is it a case of "higher the xxx, the better the picture?"

You will find somewhere else in these threads.... Panasonic measures contrast values differently and they look always higher.
There is nothing wrong in the way they are doing it except than you cannot compare them directly with the others.... sorry I do not remember the full details

Well, just been to my local store to have a look at what they had on display - Hitachi, Tosh, Pana, and LG.

The Hitachi looked the clearer and the most defined of the ones they had on display.....

... now anyone tell me why i shouldnt get the hitachi?? :D

Hey there are many here that are 'anti ALiS' which is the technology that the Hitachi uses. It has pros and cons but without doubt the picture quality is very good and I'm gonna get one!
