Which OS for this noob

just picked up an HP micro server and have been trying to figure out which os to go with. i need it to be compatible with both win 7 and lion

1. stream my movies to wifi laptops
2. itunes server / storage
3. time machine backup
4. store pictures and data files

can whs 2011 do this with add ins? should i be looking into freenas?

Why not just use Windows 7? .

I use Win7Pro as I already had a spare copy and use PS3 Media server purely for videos to the PS3 and Twonky Media Server for everything else (could use free PS3MS for everything).

As I'm not a Mac user I don't know about 3 but 1,2,4 is no problem.

WHS2011 can also do this and other than going the free linux route is likley to be cheapest at ~£37 from CCL.

i actually have a spare legit copy of win 7 pro and whs 2011, and have read into time machine backups, and it doesn't seem like its possible w/o some major hurdles. this also seems to be the case with freenas. maybe i should just forget about the time machine backups
