Because I am going to run my Sky+ through an AV amp, I am looking into optical cables, however I'm unsure of how much to spend. Does a Sky+ (and a budget amp - AX640SE) warrant an expensive cable? I don't mind spending a bit if I am garunteed a good sound. Alternatively will a cheapo Cambridge Audio £20 optical cable do the job as good as any other?

    Same applies for my X-box.

    Thanks.

I would stick to a fairly cheap optical cable, seems pointless in spending more than £30 on an optical cable.
I have a qed optical cable and a cheapo one and i cant tell the difference

Ive just brought my optical cable from the most unlikely place our local B&Q depot. Its a maxview 1m cable (Toslink) with 3.5mm optical converters if required. Price £9.99.

If all you need to do is make an optical connection from your sky+ box to the AV amp then this seems to be excellent value.

    Hi

I have found some pretty decent cables for less than £10 on ebay, perhaps worth a search before buying from a shop.

I just purchased a 10m S-VHS from tvcables (Ebay Shop) for just £5.75. They do sell TOSLINK as well!

    Cheers
