    Hi all,

I got the following games at Xmas:

    Call of Duty
    GTA Vice City
    XIII
    Hidden and Dangerous 2
    Jedi Academy
    Alien vs Predator 2
    Breakthrough Expan for MOHAA

Had a tinker with XIII before Xmas, but wasn't easily impressed, so i started playing Jedi Academy and have almost completed now, but just want to know which one I should play next?

As you guys are the Xperts, thought I would put it your way.

Call of Duty without a doubt, the best shooter released last year :)

Also Alien vs Predator 2 is awesome on the Marine chapter one of the most atmospheric shooters you can play, the Aliens chapter is ok, I really didn't like the predator one.

Hidden and Dangerous 2 is supposed to be very good too.

Personally, I would also take XIII, Jedi Academy and Expansion for MOH back and get something like Max Payne 2 or KOTOR.

I've played and completed XIII, quite a disappointment to be honest. The ending is rubbish, although there are some nice levels and novel weapons.

It's a shame about XIII becuase it was hyped up pretty well.

Jedi Academy isn't too bad, but it is more like an add-on for Jedi Knight 2......Wish I'd asked for KOTOR now......Still.

I think when I've completed JA I will have a go at Call of Duty.

I read the manual for HAD2 whilst on the loo several times, and to be honest I'm pretty afraid that I will be bad at the game cause it looks complicated.

Its got to be GTA VC. Amazing game.

Also if you are a fan of the Aliens film, try Aliens vs Predator 2, the sound effects are spot on to the film and there is a great scary atmosphere too. Not the longest of games but still one of my favourites.

Hidden and Dangerous Two is actually one of the best games ever and even though it has some great reviews NOBODY seems to be playing it

Whilst not as quick or as easy to get into as Call of Duty its a much deeper and more involved game

The way that tactics really work and that rhe levels are so well designed has to be seen to be believed

Give yourself a good few hours and play this

I played the 1st Mission to completion about 15 times and even then was finding new ways to do it

I tried Call of Duty single player but having playing Battlefield 1942 it didn't compare to the non-scripted actions that happen all the time in Battlefield

So I didn't finish Call Of Duty for this reason. I guess I have been spoilt with on-line internet gaming

My bugbear is this whole GTA:VC thing at the moment

There is no denying that its a very good game and deserves to be played but why are games like Hidden and Dangerous ignored for the likes of it

Hidden and Dangerous 2 is the better game - it may not be as instantly accesable but its a very clever and well designed game with just as much killing and just as many vehicles to drive

You answered your own question, it is more accessible :)

GTA VC is ok, it is just a better version of GTA 3. Personally I prefer the original (because that is the in thing to say hehehe!). It was good fun, but I soon got bored of it.

GTA3 and GTA VC are better than hidden and dangerous because of the whole belligerent attitude of the game. You're walking down a normal street in a normal city and suddenly you fancy killing someone, nicking their car and jumping it off the top of a mulit story car park. So much style it oozes from the hard drive.

Not sure which I prefered, GTA3 of GTA VC. The motorbikes and your character's voice in VC are cool, but I think GTA3 had some better missions.
Still play them to get some more stunning ****, errr, I mean cunning stunt bonuses :)

I heard (and im not sure how true it was) but there was this big war type thing about 50 years or so ago which I think may be a little similar to the style of H&D2

Ha ha. Very true but as I wasn't there but I have walked and driven around numerous big cities, hence I decided I liked GTA3 & GTA VC more than H&D2 'cause I could relate to it more.

Legal note, I didn't go nicking cars or shooting people. Even if I wanted to

Well I've completed Jedi Academy at last. Now have to try it by joining the dark side.....oohhhhhhhh

Despite all the advice, I placed COD into my drive on the weekend and thought I'd have a little bash.
Not a bad game, a little high paced, graphics not much different to MOHAA, bigger levels, etc.
However, last night (Only played for a total of 6 hours in hard mode) I'm on the second Russian tank mission, and understand I'm not tooo far from completing it.
Bit of a shame, and I'm not very good with MP games as too many people have hidden cheats enabled on their servers and it's put me off playing MP games.

Thanks for all your advice, so I'm going to take up H&D2 for the next fortnight. Boy will that impress the Mrs.

Can always go back to CM4 I suppose.........What a method for divorce the CM series are....lol

    Thanks Sinzer, that explains it.
Comment was because mag's and friends said the graphics were much better. Maybe they upgrade their machines after playing MOHAA then played COD.

By the way, is GTAVC any easier in general than thoose 3 minuite misions in GTA3?

I think for the most part, the difficulty was about the same. Or maybe as I'd only recently finished GTA3, I was starting GTA VC with more experience and so it made it a bit easier for me.
There's a bank job near the end of VC that I found quite tough and one or two of the races. As you can use your mouse to aim, missions involving the sniper gun are easier on pc than on ps2.

I thought the story line in VC was better and being able to ride motorbikes (full speed into on coming traffic aka Matrix2 style) helped too.

Thanks for the info. How long do you reckon the gameplay is in VC?

It depends how often and how long each day you play it. I think there is a couple of months gameplay there.

Plus if you play it like me where everytime you get busted or killed I cancel the game and load again, you could be playing for months!

Once you have completed the missions, there is always the 100% completion to go for aswell, collecting all the hidden objects, bonus jumps etc etc.

Thanks Greg. I manage to fit an hour or so in once the kids have gone to bed (And whilst the Mrs is watching her TV).

I'm on the second from last mission in COD, so as a change of pace I'm going to have a go on VC. Depending on how easy I find it, I way toggle between that and H&D2. Can't forget CM4 for the weekend.

Well I had it for about a month before I finished all the story missions but during that month I had a ton of problems keeping my pc stable enough to run GTA VC.
Have a look at this thread: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=84094

Had to 'upgrade' from win98 SE to winXP to get the thing working but then again, my computer's always been flakey.

Once my pc was working properly, there were still a lot more parts to VC I hadn't done (like flown the apache helicopter) or explored. That took a few more weeks.

    [edit correcting that url]

Pretty much agree with all of that:smashin:

It isnt the sort of game you can just pick up and start having a ball:nono: you do need to persever(spelling? )but its definately worth it.

The mutli player aspect is ok but H+D2s stength is its single player,IMO its challenging ,rewarding and highly enjoyable.
(its also a refreshing change from the 0%tactical shooters like MOH and COD)

The dragon went last night........Oh Yes, so I put on GTAVC (As a change).
    WOW....Much more addictive than GTA3.
Oh and thoose bikes are cool.
Did a little rampage last night by using a bus and bombing down the main street in the middle of the two lanes. Cool.

I think I'll keep this one going for a couple of nights and will then put on H&D2.

Played it, and liked it until I reached this crap mission about flying helecopters into the building and dropping bombs.

Got bored so have now put this back on the shelf.

I love H&D2. I think Call of Duty is a better shoot em up, but H&D2 has it's plus points.

Being a family man I can't put the time in H&D2 as I would like.
Might have a go on AvP2 tonight. ANyone got any feedback on this game?
