Which player would you go for and why?

Arcam DV88 or Toshiba sd900e? I can get both players for the same price.

How do you rate each player out of 10 for sound and also for picture?

    Sund,
You need to do some homework of your own! Try doing a search on google.co.uk for reviews on these players. Also try the reviews on this site from HCC mag.

    Gareth,
that really depends on your priorities doesn't it. If you need a multi-purpose player that plays all formats then I'd agree, the 747 would be a good choice.
Check Hi-Fi News' review, it's worth read.

Marc has a good point for you Sund. If you want an all in do everything player then it is the 747, being the only real choice. If you are after quality picture and sound on DVD (and possibly DVD A) then it is a whole different ball game. You two mentioned players will masacre the 747 for breakfast but they won't do SACD.

Both the Tosh 900 and Arcam 88 are quality bits of kit. Personally I would go the Arcam route because of the support Arcam has been proven to deliver, particularly on this forum. You will not go too far wrong with either, both quality on sound and picture.

Don't forget the Arcam is modular and upgradable.
