well, unfortunately my graded fujitsu plasma I was looking forward to having didnt come through

And, obviously the same reason I was going to buy graged, im on a very tight budget, so I have had a look round at brand new screens and list the ones I can just stretch to below. Please could you let me know which one is the better screen and better to go for. Or if you know of any other good lower end plasmas??? thanks all

    sure,
You'd want to check it over carefully, examine it for screen burn or other image defects, (or ensure you could return it if you found some) check for the number of operating hours and discuss the warranty, but I'd accept minor cosmetic damage if the saving was big enough. I'd happily pay more for a graded panny than a brand new samsung.

It's a bit like buying a car, wouldn't you prefer a nearly-new BMW over a brand new Rover?

I have never seen anyone unhappy with their Samsung ps42v4s
So if it's no good, why are peeps happy with it!
I saw one in a local shop, and it looked better than the panny next to it.
(It looked better than all the othe Plasmas in the shop)

I wonder how many of you have seen the Samsung?

I agree (obviously). Newer generation than the Panny (i think) and the build and PQ is great. I know everybody goes on about the Pannys but see pjclark1's thread....

Demo both and see which you prefer, but I have to say that when I originally demoed a Panny against a Hitachi I thought the Hitachi was best. That had to go back in the end and I replaced it with a Panny, which initially didn't look as good, but as I started to watch it at home I realised the picture was much better (more stable, more contrast, less banding etc). It's the little things that make the difference, and you don't spot those until you've had your set a while. I can practically guarantee you that the picture on the Panny will be better then the Samsung. But the decision is yours.

I would go for the Sammy based on what I've seen. I went to Currys which has the new Sammy (different model number but virtually the same as the V4 that you can get over the internet) with lots of other plasmas including the Panny Viera. All had the same signal feed. I tested SKY and analogue and Sammy was consistenly better than the others, including the Panny. Contrast appeared just a good, plus less fuzziness and there was no buzzing that has afflicted past Sammys.

Remember guys - just because it's a more expensive Japanese make doesn't mean it is better. Korean makes can be just as good if not better - plus a lot cheaper!

For £1800, which would you rather get? 42" brand new Sammy with stand and speakers - or 37" graded Panny with speakers but no stand?

    For me - no contest.
