Further to my earlier general post and following suggestions I think the three subs on my list are:
    Power Buy Velodyne CHT8
    Rel Quake
    BK XLS200

Ignoring price, what are the pros and cons of each of these? On paper the CHT8 seems the weakest in terms of really low bass, but how does it perform in reality?
Quake seems to generally get good write ups and on paper goes pretty low.
Not sure about the XLS200 other than it has been recommended.

    Thanks again!
    Andrew

P.S. Is £500 for a nearly new Storm III good?

The BK is 275W, 10" driver, all high quality components, sounds excellent with both movies and music, looks beautiful in either DF of FF guise.

Not seen a bad word said about it. For the money it's a tough act to beat...PJ :)

I would recommend discounting the Quake and then deciding which of the remaining 2 to buy based on how much you can spend. You'll definitely get more for your money with the XLS200 but it costs more! :)

    Thanks.
Nice to know the most expensive of the three can be discounted :)
I'm tempted to go cheap and get the CHT8 but then again....
Has anyone here tried the CHT8 and XLS200 that can give an idea of relative performance? Is the XLs worth £100 more really?

    Thanks
    Andrew

Another P.S. notice on bkelec site they have some cheap Ruark subs, but I guess they are no better than the CHT8?

None of the three listed in your original post will go really low but the BK is probably the best of the three.

£500 for a nearly new Storm 3 is quite good as these were £900 and £1,000 new dependant on finish. This will beat any of the three that you have listed but if you are willing to go to £500 that opens up a completely different market for you in terms of performance

Yup when we hit £400+ it runs into second hand SVS and servo 15 territory and new SVS pb10isd and BK monolith territory.
