I want to set up a rack-mounted fileserver to allow multi-room access to my files.

I have some spare bits at home so building as cheaply as possible would sensibly include these:-

    Currently have:-
    Athlon 2400+ CPU
    512MB PC3200 Memory

Any recommendations for a motherboard that will take both the above and with the following extra features, it will probably have to be a MiniATX board to get these:-

    400 FSB
On-Board Graphics (No need for a decent GFX card in a server),
    Onboard 6Ch Sound,
2 on-board Lan ports (including 1 Gigabit Lan)

Something eBuyer or Scan has nice and cheap is prefereable, as I have an order for other stuff to place anyway.

    Thanks,

    Mark.

The two onboard gigabit LAN sockets is probably going to be the biggest factor in limiting your options.

The Asus A7N8X. Has dual on board LAN, but they 100Mb ones instead of gigabit. Around £60

The Gigabyte GA-7VT880 Pro has Gigabit, but just the one. Emmmm can't find a price for this one believe it or not.

What "U" is the rack mounted server going to be?

Thanks for the pointer, I did actually say that at least 1 Gigabit LAN, didn't expect to find 2. I already use an A7N8X in my HTPC. Neither of these have the onboard graphics I'm looking for, I think this will only be available on a MiniATX, which is fine as I don't need the extra PCI slots. Thanks for trying,

    Mark.
