Hi everyone.

Ive trawled the threads on here. Pages and pages.

Just whats the best all round player. Im going to connect network by either wifi or power plug.

Must work with windows 7, and take a hard drive. Read that sumvision mkv enclosure still awaiting firmware update for this.

Ive read there is a new dune player coming soon, complete with blu ray drive though blu ray drive, in itself is not overly important at the moment.

So whats the best all rounder that plays everything ?;)

It must support down mixing of dts as im not using an amp.
If it supports newgroup client for nzbs, that would be fantastic and a deal clincher.

Cheers Paul.

They all do much the same thing, look for stable firmware.

Most of the cases where it does not work are probably simple networking issues (user error)

Wifi can have its speed issues - if looking at homeplugs then get the AV standard plugs.

and take a hard drive
Assuming you mean an internal drive then you have plenty of options but it rules out the WDTV / Asus Oplay / Playon HD Mini

BD Prime 3.0 and BD Base 3.0 are both available

Only thing that will play everything is a HTPC due to the vast amount of codecs available. Unless you have some odd formats then you will be fine with any media player.

Most models you will look at will do this.

In this case (i think) your only option is to look at a "NMT" such as a Popcorn Hour or HDX model.
If your broadband speed is very fast then you need to look at the newer models otherwise the CPU on the old models will limit your download speed. Probably not an issue if you are on ADSL as speeds wont get to where the bottleneck is.
