I've got the original 4100. Don't know what's different about the special edition -they certainly seem to look the same. What can I say - multiregion with no internal hacking, top quality picture, excellent sound, brilliant CD playback considering the price bracket, an RGB loopthrough, and the What Hi-FI DVD product of the year. Slight gripe: no prog scan or component outputs. Still, it is only a minor gripe, and I certainly wouldn't swap it for anything under a grand (i.e. a TOSH 900 or a TAG 32R!).

I have heard about a new Marantz?

Anyone know the model number and price?

Do any on-line shops sell it cheap?

Does it have a hack, or does it need to be mod'd.

    Any info appreciated

    Jon

Jon, I haven't come across anyone doing the rather good 4100SE for less than the £400 retail. However, Marantz also do the DV7010 which retails at £699 but HiFiBitz do a multi region one of these for £499. What I don't know is how good the 7010 is - you'd think that as it retails at £300 more than the 4100SE then it would be an excellent player but it would be nice to have this confirmed by someone who's compared the two players.

I have seen that Upgrade Heaven do the 4100 OSE for £370.
