They do the Aconda 9381ZW and the Vitros 6381ZW. I'm very surprised they don't do the 9281ZW or at least can't get one for your friend. Might be worth double checking or phoning a different store. They might have it down as the Aconda Living. Ask them what models they do do and note them down.

I think all of the Loewe range are available but most stores don't stock them (as they are high-end.)

However you can special order them (I replaced my buzzing Sony FX66 with an Aventos and had to order it to get to the Norwich branch.)

can any one advise on the best price they got the aventos for from JL. I have an 32FX66 waiting to be picked up from JL and was considering trying the Philips 9527. I am now having second thoughts. Especially if I can get a price match from JL. I am after a 32" Acconda with stand. I have seen a Aventos 3981 ZW Platinum for 999 inc vat from http://www.tvandvideodirect.com/tvandvideodirect_home/

And this seems to include the stand.

    Many Thanks

JL price matched with tv & video direct at £900 (without the stand though!)

The Aventos replaced my buzzing FX66.

What do you think of it compared to the Sony.
I know it does PiP but can it do split screen Picture and text.

    Any comments would be appreciated

I though the FX66 was great but had loads of problems on top of the buzzing (colour bleed, convergence issues.)

    The Aventos is sublime! :smashin:
The picture has none of the Sony issues & looks fantastic.

The PIP is better than the Sony & easier to use; it also incorporates iPIP which I can't explain as I haven't used it yet! :)

Don't quote me but I'm sure the Aventos has split screen picture & text (maybe only with terrestrial?)

The thing that amazed me about the set is the automatic size switching.

As with most widescreens the picture will resize depending on the broadcast (4:3, 16:9) but the Loewe takes it a step further!
If you have a 4:3 broadcast that has the infamous black lines to make it pseudo-widescreen the set will zoom to accommodate (this can be turned off if you find that annoying.)
The Aventos does all resizing smoothly as well (zooms in & out accordingly) and the most impressive bit is when you are watching in 4:3 and activate PIP - the 4:3 moves from the centre of the screen to the side to fit both pictures in so they don't overlap!

I would recommend this set to anyone that can afford the beauty. :smoke:

You dont work for Loewe do you :D Only kidding.

Whats it like watching football. The Sony is pretty bad.

I have just been in to my local HoF and they will price match but not give the 5yr warranty if they price match.

He did say that the Aventos is starting to be shipped with the stand but would like to see one first.

I think my mind is made up between Loewe and Philips 9527. The guy in HoF said he has not heard of any problems with the Philips and could not recommend it enough. I told him to check this forum out. It hink its a Loewe for me. I just want to see it first.

STE 1010, ring John Lewis Bluewater in Kent, they will process the pricematch, then they say they will source it from your local JL which is up in Geordieland. I almost got the 32FX66, but it was discontinued and am waiting for the FQ70 now.

They will include the 5yr warranty.

Why do I need to ring Bluewater. When I bought my 32FX66 the Newcastle JL did the price match for me.

Also after 2 dodgy FX66's they did a price match on the 9527. I have been waiting for 3 weeks for it to come into stock. It is only in the last week or so I have had my doubts about the Philips 9527 hence me looking at the Loewe Aventos. The bad news is that JL rang last night and spoke to my missus. Apparently the Philips is in stock now and they want to deliver it on Tues and take the Sony away. I am going to ring them tomorrow and tell them I want the Aventos I think.

What do you think of the FQ70. Does it buzz?

    C'mon Boro!!

    Red Army!!!

I asked Newcastle to price match and they refused! So rang Bluewater on advice from here and they matched in writing and said they would source from Newcastle.

I see the FX66 has problems on sound, but have seen no issues with the picture. I'm going for the FQ70, but haven't seen a decent set up for a Loewe in the area - where did you go?

We're gonna hand the title to Man U tomorrow !!!!

I went to binns, but they didn't have the Aventos on display.

The lad in Binns said the dept was getting a refit next month done by Loewe and will have a lot more on display.

He had been on some training with Loewe to look at the new ranges. He said they were quality. Saying that he said the philips were the same. He said he had never heard ot the black bars problems on the philips. I told him to check this site out.

Binns will also price match but will not give the 5yr warranty if the shop they match doesn't.

Lets hope we knock the smile of Whinger Wengers face tomorrow

I dont like Man Utd, but hate Arsenal more

Just a tip for any pricematchers out there...

I got my Loewe from my local House of Fraser. They were happy to do a pricematch but they wouldn't do the five year warranty coz the retailler didn't.

However John Lewis always do the extended warranty and they beat the retailer's price.

So I got HoF to match John Lewis for price and warranty.

Maybe they'll do the same for you too.

If you want to see a Philips set up go to Comet on Teesside Park - they have the 8527 (?) Pixel Plus set up with a DVD player and an OK aerial. You can compare P+ and non-P+. I think the non-P+ is very blurred and the P+ sharpens it up to about as good as the FQ70.

Also go to Miller Bros at TP - they have a poor aerial and the P+ look absolutely awful.

yep. The same as Binns, and JL in Newcastle. All looked poor compared to the Sony. At JL they tried to sell me a Panasonic PH40. It was crap and they blamed it on the source. The DVD picture was OK but the standared aeiral was garbage.

I am going to cancel the order for the Philips and get the Aventos.
It doesn't look as good as the Sony (in my opinion) but all the feedback on this site is mostly positive.

    Hi ste1010...

I got an Aconda 9381 for £1500 inc. delivery and 5 yr warranty.

I spent a lot of time trying to find the right tv and looked at all brands.

I can honestly say there was nothing that matched the Loewe picture-wise. After 8 months I still find myself admiring the quality of the picture rather than the programmes !

Plus all the bells and whistles that come with it too are fab. Couldn't live without PIP and PAP and all the teletext extras.

Support from Loewe/Linn is excellent too.

Not sure how the Aventos compares with the Aconda....but if you can afford the extra go for the 9381.

decided to go for the Aventos with stand. (according to tcandvideodirect it is now a loewe standard offering)

Just spoke to the girl at newcastle JL and she says they dont to the Aventos, and if they ordered it they wouldn't do me a price match.

Can you give me as much info as possible regarding what you got, when, where and how much so I can go back to her.

If you want you can PM me to let me know

    Many thanks

For info I have spent an hour playing with the Aventos at a local comet and it looked pretty good.

    Many Thanks

    Ste

Ste - Had a look at the Aventos at Teeside today, pretty good picture, possibly slightly superior to the Sony, but without seeing them side-by side wouldnt like to say (Certainly wasnt a patch on the FQ80).. However not convinced by the looks, and the picture would have had to have been considerably better to go for it, so its going to be the FQ70 for me..

By the way... Huge comet!!! when did it open??

    Christ / Ste1010,

Went to Comet todays as well, the Loewe case looks pretty bland to me, and the picture was nothing special. Couldn't get the attached DVD to work on the TV either, it said it was not connected

As Christ says, it's probably not much better than the FQ70, but there are more functions such as Picture and Picture and the like.

So I think it's the FQ70 for me as well, from JL when they get it in.

Sorry about no reply but haven't been on the forum - at the beach kiting!

I'll try to keep this short & explain exactly how I got my Aventos.
    • Got a Sony KV32FX66 from JL (with stand) price matched at £899.
    • Oh dear buzzed - can I please have a new one :)
No - they are being discontinued would you like something else?
    • Found Loewe Aventos at TV & Video Direct for £899 & said to JL please can I have that (price match)?
    • They say yep but it is a special order so I have to wait about 10 days.

All this was at the John Lewis Norwich branch.

Personally I would push JL to price match.
Just tell them that you will phone a London branch (who stock them) & get them to price match & get it shipped up to your local branch! :)

I think it is wrong for them not to price match stock that their chain stocks just because it isn't at that store! :(

I haven't seen the FQ70. I am slightly wary of another Sony due to the problems wuth the first one.

I agree the Loewe does look a bit plain, but I will be looking at the screen not the TV most of the time.

Sony just weren't bothered about the buzzing on the FX66 claiming that they were in tolerance and ALL 100hz tv's buzz. I hope the FQ70 does not suffer from this, but I dont want to risk it.

Did John Lewis supply the graphite or silver Aventos.

I have just spoken to Norwich JL and they only do the Graphite. The silver would be a special order and will not Price match on a special order

Mine was in graphite - personally I think it looks great.

Not mad fussed about silver stuff - it's just a fad :thumbsdow

Get the TV on the picture not what it looks like!
It's not a fashion item :lesson:

    thanks mdou

completely agree its not a fashion item, but every thing else is silver, DVD, AV Amp, sky box etc.

I would like to keep it the same.

The problem I may have is that JL have said they wont refund my money as I have had the Sony too long so I cant go else where.

I will argue this with them as I complained about the first Sony 2 hours after it was delivered. The set was checked and replaced and then I complained about the replacement after a day. I have now waited 4 weeks for a replacement to come in. They told me to just keep the Sony until it was replaced. I just dont want the Philips now after all the bad posts I have read.

Will speak to JL today re a refund if they cant do the platinum aventos

Just out of interest I rang the Loewe help line this morning to ask about the aventos stand. I wanted to check that the gap between the shelves was enougnh for my AV amp. The guy was very help ful. He dug out a PDF showing the dimensions of the stand and e mailed it to me. He also said that evan though the Aventos is a low end Loewe it had the same insides as most of there more expensive sets and the cost saving were purely cosmetic.
