This weekend I have been overdosing on Rocky movies having watched the first three in two nights. So I was wondering what everybody's favourite of the series is?

I enjoyed that one with Bullwinkle in..
DeNiro is a better Italian/American actor than Stallone.

Rocky I and IV are the best. Of these, I'd pick Rocky IV.

Rocky II is ok, Rocky III is rubbish, and Rocky V is possibly the worst film in my entire collection.

    Rocky IV by a MILE!

It has Ivan Drago, master of the monotone delivery...

    "You - will - lose."

    "I-must-break-you."

The music's great as well, mid-eighties Kenny Loggins cheese. :D

Come on guys, Rocky (the original) stands head and shoulders above any of the others, even rocky 2.

Stallone must have made that one whilst possessed by some highly creative, inspired spirit. Its the only explanation. :D

Rocky 1. This is an amazing film, all the better for when it was made in 1976 it was made for a ridiculously low budget, and seemingly Stallone who wrote the script in 5 days (blacked out windows in a slum apartment) had to get his family to do cameos to help out - His brother was the street singer (and contributed to the soundtrack), his father was the bell ringer, and his dog was Buktus.
It's one of these films that gladdens the heart with strong performances from all and had a great story (before he went too far with the underdog puppy eyes)

I thought 2 was okish, 3 was fun when I was 13 years old. 4 was propoganda political crap (but a great soundtrack for the mid-eighties), and 5 well was very bad indeed.

Stallone - not a good actor, but he did give us 2 great films in Rocky 1 and First Blood.

I really like Rocky III, but i think i would have to go for IV just for the soundtrack and also being the first Rocky that i saw at the cinema, having queued for hours to see it.

I haven't watched Rocky IV or V on DVD yet but I rate Rocky I the best, closely followed by Rocky II and quite a long way behind that is Rocky III. Rocky III also features the fantastic eye of the Tiger, what a theme tune but pales in comparison on all other fronts.

This was supposed to be a poll but I couldn't get it to work, perhaps a moderator could add a poll?

    btw cool new icons! :dts:

Rocky I is the best film (plot, etc) but for all that you cannot beat the Cold War hilarity of Rocky IV :smashin:.

rocky 4 (IV) is by far the best out of them all.

the training scenes also inspire me to motivate myself too somehow

It got to be III, Mr T's snorting "Pity the fool" and his prediction for the rematch "pain" and to get the ball rolling Hulk Hogan's "Ultimate male Versus the Ultimate Meatball"

Plus it's got the added bonus of having the most fights per movie in the series (not including V as I can't really remember much about that tripe)
