    HI

I am upgradeing to a new PC and would like to know what the best Processor is for games out of these to which are in my budget.

    These are the Processors

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz Socket LGA775, 2MB, BOXED w/fan

    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=322632&CKS=PCW

    And

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz Socket AM2 1MB, BOXED w/fan
    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=320790&CKS=PCW

I would be buying one of these 2 bass units

    This is the AMD one
    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/config.asp?ConfigSystemId=10090

    And

    This is the INTEL
    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ci.asp?sku=10206

I also would be buying this video card

    XFX GeForce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 XXX, PCI-Express, 2xDVI/HDTV, 590/1600Mhz
    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=318606&CKS=PCW

    With more RAM

At the mo I am on an AMD 2600 MHZ with 1 GB 333 MHZ RAM , ATI 9800 PRO 128 MB , MSI KT 400 Main Board.

    Hi tvdavid,

Yep, I stand corrected. If it was my choice I would order the E6300 and overclock it (check out the forums on OcUK, they have some very good info there).

    Cheers

Some sites miss lead you by putting the price with out VAT bigger than the price with it.

I hate it when they do this.

Definately the intel cpu and if you are willing to spend £140 on a gfx you'd be better spending an extra tenner and getting an X1800 XT from overclockers. A FAR better card :smashin:

Theres a review here if you're interested ; comparing it to an nvidia geforce 7800GTX (much faster than the 7600GT)

....by "best" processor (thinking from an AVForums = Audio Visual Forums point of view) you mean one that provides the amount of processing power you need for your Audio / Visual needs and then only uses the lowest amount of power (and thus the lowest need for noisey fans etc)...

That will be the Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Merom hands down, no discussion, end of story.

I am wondering now if I need to quiter sky plus box as that now gives out more noise than my pc !
