    Ok,

Looking to buy a 55-inch TV, non-OLED, but must have HDR, 4K and Flat screen.

In your opinion, which is the best out of these? Everytime I ask in Currys/PC World, they only lust after the Sony, but that's because they have Sony advisers in store, so wouldn't surprise me one bit that they take a nice cut for selling Sonys...

LG 55UH950V or SONY BRAVIA KD55XD9305BU

    Which is best?

Believe me, they would make more money on the LG. they recommend the Sony as they beat all LG TV's (except the OLED models when it comes to black levels, but that is the same for every TV out there).
Black levels are far superior to that of the LG LED sets, motion is better also

Thanks guys, any downsides to the Sony then? I hear that Android is bad compared to WebOS.
What about upscaling, is the Sony better than the LG 850V/950V?

I've read countless bad write ups about Android TV but I've had a couple of months with it now and it's superb. There were a lot of superfluous menus originally, but as with all things Android, these are completely user-definable and I'm now left with a slick OS that's to my own tastes. A very occasional freeze now and again but no worse than an Android phone etc. I'm of the opinion that any complaints must be historical now or due to older TVs having a crappy processor. An additional plus is there's a complete update coming later this year.

I took a lot of advice before I made the plunge and was told that no manufacturer upscales better than Sony, and ultimately most TV viewing will remain 720p. I continue to be astonished at its ability to upscale. Programmes that I've watched for years have taken on a whole new dimension, not only in resolution but in colour range.

What is the viewing angles like on the Sony KD55XD9305BU?

I've also done loads of research, the Sony is best part of £2000, do I go for it, or do I take the plunge and go for the 2016 LG Signature OLED55E6V at £3500...

What's ur advice? Not sure I can justify paying the extra for OLED, when in a couple of years OLED will be the norm...

Ok, manufacturers and price aside, what's the best 55" LED (not OLED) TV on the market right now?

Fwiw Ive had the e6v a couple of weeks now and have decided to take it back due to motion issues and banding. Sony xd93 is a better bet for a lot less money and motion handling is best I've ever seen. So xd93 is now the second TV (a major step up from Panny 902 and New samsungs when i did my testing a few weeks back) and xd94 is due to take pride of place in main system next week!

Absolutely the reports are older as the Android OS was awful to begin with but is now running really smoothly

Bit the bullet and bought the 55XD9305BU this week.
Awesome TV, but the SKY Picture was horrible, blocky, pixelated and real bad on the SD channels via Scart.

So I went and got a SKY+ HD Box today, hooked it up via HDMI and the picture is even worse for the Sky SD Channels...

Any idea how I fix this? It's that bad, I feel like returning the TV

Well SD is SD but on my XD93/94 SD is reasonably watchable - trick is to soften it a bit.

I bought myself the Lg 55uh950v yesterday mainly because of wider format support i.e. hdr10 and dolby vision and it was a lot cheaper than either the sony or the samsung ks9000.
I have not had the time to tune it properly yet. How ever i can tell already that the black levels are not great.... maybe after some calibaration things will improve...
Webos was great and i did test the tv with netflix 4k dolbyvision feed of Marco polo and it is stunning... anyways i barely spent an hour so its early days... i will keep updating the thred on the Lg 55uh950v that i created yesterday...
