    Here is my spec:

    ANTEC P182 CASE

    CORSAIR HX 520

    INTEL CORE 2 DUO E8400 1333FSB SKT775

    NOCTUA NH-U12P COOLER

    ASUS SKT-775 P5KC

    OCZ 4GB DDR2 800 CL5.0 DUAL

    ASUS DVD 18x S-ATA DVD-E818AT BLACK RET 2 BEZELS BLACK/SILVER

    ASUS DVD±RW 20x S-ATA DRW-2014L1T BLACK LIGHTSCRIBE OEM

    2X SATA HDD

Ok so I want a GPU that will mainly be used for 1080p playback on my 46" LCD via HDMI and the odd bit of game play.

So I was thinking the HD3850 but although the pic on scan shows one DVI and a HDMI or S-Video port, the description says two DVI and an S-Video ?

Kempez, I know you commented on this in another thread and you said that the one you tested had HDMI but was this produced in a limited number or something ?

So really I want a card that has native HDMI, I'm not bothered about dual DVI.

Also what's the deal with 5.1 audio over HDMI, I've heard that it might not do this (obviously I want this) and that it only does 2.0 ?

Now I just need to chase ebuyer about the missing CPU from my delivery :(

    Thanks.

I've got the Scan 3850 arriving tomorrow will let you know its specs when it arrives.

AFAIK all 3850s are able to audio over HDMI either with the special DVI-HDMI adaptor or via the native HDMI port if they have one.

I'd check with SCAN to make sure you get an HDMI enabled card

Not sure on the 5.1/2,0 thing though, didn't test that was only reviewing the gaming and high def video capabilities of the card

Just spoke to scan and they're going to physically check the card and get back to me.

You'd think most of the new cards would have HDMI by default, yeah i know DVI is basically the same but still everyone is looking to hookup their flat screens !

I'll let you know their response.

Scan have confirmed that the card doesn't have a HDMI port and uses a DVI-HDMI dongle.

Should I stick with this or go for an NVidia ?

    Hmmmmm.

I'm just wondering now whether I should just go for a HD 3650 given that I'll mainly be using it for purely for output onto my LCD and little if any gaming, am I wasting my money ?

If I go for the 3850 I'm more inclined to go for 512MB from scan for £85 over the 256MB.

    What do you reckon ?

If you've no interest in gaming then the 3650 is more than powerful enough. The Powercolour 3850 512MB was only £63 yesterday, which is an absolute steal.

DVI is a flat-screen tech, CRTs used VGA.

    Or even an HD 3450.

Minstadave, where did you see it for £63 ?

    That's a good price.
