I am passing signals via my ps3 to my avr300 as pcm via the analogue cables.

    Can the avr300 handle 96 & 192 khz frequencies for 2ch, 5.1 and 7.1 ?

The strange thing is I had been receiving audio via optical out from my octava switch box (ps3 to octava via hdmi) and recently added analogue out cables as well from the switch box. Now I can receive sound via the analogues and part of the sound via optical however speech seems to be muted via the optical for some reason - weird.

96kHz: yes, 192kHz: no. Since the AVR300 can't access audio over HDMI, 7.1 is not supported.

I do not know what's wrong with the Octava configuration: perhaps adding analogue "disables" multichannel support so you lose the centre?

    Thanks Mark,

It may be the case with the octava. I have not noticed a karaoke setting of anything on the ps3 which may hve knocked out the centre. I may change the optical cable and see if that is at fault
