I use the Quad 21L with NAD. I luv them for their neutral sound. They may be a bit polite for Rock/Pop/Hip-Hop music. The others you can audition are Dali Evidence series, Audio Physic Yara, Meadowlark Krestels, Totem Arro or Sttaf. Different price ranges, but 1 of them should appeal to you - like the Quad 21Ls for me :D

    PMC GB1's.
Brilliant little floor standers, that sound good and go deep.
And being small they dont get in the way or take up to much room, plus they are front proted so can go close to the wall ( evern further out the way ).

I'm not sure what your gear sounds like, but my GB1's sound brilliant on the end of my Arcam A90.

Try the rega r3's, they cost about £450, and sound like they should cost double.

Try auditioning Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo 3's.

Haven't heard the other speakers mentioned in the thread, but the quality on these are stunning for the price.

Cheapest price is http://www.sevenoakssoundandvision.co.uk/ of all places approx £230.

What Hifi advise best speakers under £500.
(for £230 there's certainly no complaints and I was surprised it was sevenoaks who were the lowest price).

Couple this with some QED Silver anniversary with Airloc connectors for a sound far past the price range.

Check out the others in the thread too; I have no experience of them so they may be even better sound in the price range
